What stream-docs does

stream-docs acts as a compatibility entrypoint: any request naming stream-docs gets handled through the getstream docs command. Supported arguments come from getstream docs -h, and broader CLI guidance is deferred to the stream skill.

When substituting the command, such as $(getstream docs <id>), the agent must avoid appending 2>&1 since the path it needs is printed to stdout and redirecting stderr would break that. Every page cited in an answer should carry the URL from its "For the most recent version of this documentation" line.

If the CLI can't be installed, the skill falls back to fetching https://getstream.io/docs/llms.txt directly and following the links there, citing the URL of each page used.

What it helps with

  • locate the right Stream SDK documentation page
  • cite the current version of a documentation page
  • substitute getstream docs output into a command without breaking stderr
  • reach Stream docs without the CLI installed

Example prompts for the agent

  • Look up how to add push notifications in the Stream docs
  • Show me the getstream docs -h options
  • Cite the current page for the Stream Chat SDK setup

# Stream Docs (compatibility)

The recommended way to access Stream platform and SDK documentation is
`getstream docs`. Read `getstream docs -h` for supported arguments. Refer to
stream skill for CLI guidance.

In a command substitution like `$(getstream docs <id>)` don't add `2>&1` to
redirect stderr. The path you need is on stdout.

Cite every page you answer from with the URL in its "For the most recent version
of this documentation" line.

Only when the CLI cannot be installed, fall back to fetching
`https://getstream.io/docs/llms.txt` and following the links there. Cite the URL
of each page you used.
