solid · ramziddin — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Enforces TDD workflows, SOLID design, and strict clean code constraints across coding tasks. Useful when designing architecture or refactoring messy codebases.
npx skills add ramziddin/solid-skills --skill solid -a claude-codeWhat solid does
The skill directs your coding agent through a strict test-driven development workflow: write a failing test, create the simplest passing implementation, then refactor. Production code cannot be written without a corresponding failing test. Every function and class is evaluated against all five SOLID principles.
It introduces rigid Object Calisthenics rules. The agent wraps raw primitives like IDs, emails, and money amounts into dedicated value objects, avoids else blocks, limits methods to under 10 lines, and keeps classes below 50 lines. This level of discipline noticeably increases the class count and initial boilerplate.
For architecture, the skill mandates vertical slices and inward dependencies where external infrastructure depends on the core domain layer. During reviews, it spots architectural smells such as feature envy, shotgun surgery, and bloated parameter lists.
What it helps with
- refactor legacy classes into single-responsibility components
- enforce test-driven development with the Red-Green-Refactor loop
- replace bare primitive types with domain value objects
- detect code smells and excessive coupling during code review
Example prompts for the agent
- Implement the checkout workflow using TDD and SOLID principles
- Refactor this controller to remove nested conditionals and wrap primitive values
- Review this pull request for SOLID violations and code smells
