What snowflake-dbt-airbnb-analytics does

This skill equips agents with a pattern for analytics engineering projects. It organizes the raw data intake by sending Inside Airbnb compressed archives directly into internal Snowflake stages using Python and setup/snowflake_setup.sql. The pipeline then copies raw rows straight into dedicated ingestion tables.

Transformation logic follows dbt conventions split across three distinct tiers. The staging step casts datatypes and standardizes column formats. An intermediate layer joins calendars with listings to compute business metrics such as revenue proxies. Finally, dimensional and fact tables live in the marts layer, where fact tables use merge-driven incremental builds.

Without valid Snowflake warehouse credentials in profiles.yml and config/local_credentials.json, the entire pipeline halts. The ingestion relies strictly on standard Inside Airbnb CSV layouts, so altered schemas will break table builds.

What it helps with

  • configure dbt connections for Snowflake warehouses
  • establish staging, intermediate, and marts transformation tiers
  • process Inside Airbnb raw compressed tables into Snowflake stages
  • implement incremental fact models via merge runs
  • connect a Streamlit interface to final data marts

Example prompts for the agent

  • Set up a dbt Snowflake project using Inside Airbnb data with staging and mart layers
  • Create an incremental fact model for the Airbnb calendar dataset
  • Configure Snowflake credentials in profiles.yml and write the raw data loader

Questions about snowflake-dbt-airbnb-analytics

How do I install snowflake-dbt-airbnb-analytics in Claude Code?

Run npx skills add reason-machines/data-skills --skill snowflake-dbt-airbnb-analytics -a claude-code in your terminal. You can also point your assistant directly to ~/.claude/skills/snowflake-dbt-airbnb-analytics/SKILL.md.

What is snowflake-dbt-airbnb-analytics used for?

It provides structured prompt guidelines for setting up an analytics engineering repository that ingests, models, and tests Inside Airbnb records inside Snowflake with dbt.

Which source files must be downloaded before running transformations?

The pipeline expects listings.csv.gz, calendar.csv.gz, reviews.csv.gz, and neighbourhoods.csv placed inside the data/raw/ directory.
