skill-standardization — Claude Code skill: what it does and setup
Validates and standardizes SKILL.md files against the Agent Skills spec. Helps draft trigger-focused frontmatter and removes catalog drift across repositories.
npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill skill-standardization -a claude-codeWhat skill-standardization does
This skill audits and structures SKILL.md files according to agentskills.io standards. It checks frontmatter fields like name and description to ensure agent dispatchers understand user intent. When two skills overlap, it designates one as canonical and turns the duplicate into a compatibility alias.
Execution relies on filesystem access and Bash. The bundled validate_skill.sh script catches invalid folder naming and weak routing text. It also monitors file size. Prompts stay cleaner when SKILL.md remains below 500 lines, so bulky checklists belong inside a separate references/ directory.
Repository-level maintenance relies on Python. Running validate_catalog_sync.py flags mismatches in skills.json or derived summaries after renaming a folder. Missing Python 3 blocks these synchronization checks completely.
What it helps with
- validate SKILL.md frontmatter against the Agent Skills specification
- rewrite vague trigger descriptions within the 1024-character limit
- resolve duplicate skills into a canonical version with an alias
- check skills.json and repository inventory files for naming drift
Example prompts for the agent
- Check .agent-skills/deploy-helper/SKILL.md against the Agent Skills specification
- Generate a valid SKILL.md template for a git commit assistant
- Audit the repository for conflicting skills and configure compatibility aliases
