rust-learner — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Fetches crate versions, docs.rs API signatures, Rust changelogs, and Clippy lint descriptions directly inside coding agent sessions.
npx skills add actionbook/rust-skills --skill rust-learner -a claude-codeWhat rust-learner does
The skill handles lookups across the Rust ecosystem. It pulls release changelogs from releases.rs, inspects crate metadata on lib.rs and crates.io, extracts standard library signatures from official docs, and queries Clippy lint rules.
Execution splits into two patterns depending on your setup. When agent markdown files exist in ../../agents/, the skill delegates research to background Task workers. In a standalone skill install, it executes directly: actionbook MCP provides page selectors, then the agent-browser CLI reads the content.
Direct mode depends heavily on having agent-browser CLI installed. While WebFetch exists as a fallback, relying purely on it slows down parsing and drops precision on complex documentation pages.
What it helps with
- look up latest crate versions and feature flags
- inspect stabilized APIs and notes for new Rust releases
- fetch signatures and code examples from std library docs
- examine Clippy lint diagnostics with good and bad code samples
Example prompts for the agent
- What is the latest version of tokio and what features does it have?
- What changed in Rust 1.85?
- Show docs and signature for std::sync::Arc

Questions about rust-learner
How to install rust-learner in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add actionbook/rust-skills --skill rust-learner -a claude-code in your terminal.
What does rust-learner do?

How does execution mode detection work?
It checks for agent markdown files under ../../agents/. If found, it dispatches background tasks; otherwise, it queries pages inline using actionbook and agent-browser.
