What gemini-watermark-remover does

This skill adds a local Python workflow to strip visible Gemini watermarks from generated images. Everything runs locally on your machine, so you do not need external API calls or web servers.

The package contains the CLI tool scripts/remove_watermark.py, pre-captured alpha maps assets/bg_48.png and assets/bg_96.png, and algorithm details in references/algorithm.md. It requires Python 3.9+ and Pillow. The output format is automatically inferred by Pillow from the target file extension.

Because the algorithm relies on fixed watermark alpha maps, custom resolutions or modified watermarks can produce visual artifacts and will require manual adjustments in the algorithm reference.

What it helps with

  • remove visible bottom-right Gemini watermarks from images
  • batch-process AI-generated pictures via a local CLI script
  • clean images without external servers or HTML rendering
  • adjust alpha blending math for custom image resolutions

Example prompts for the agent

  • Run scripts/remove_watermark.py on ./input.png and save the clean image to ./output.png
  • Help me remove the Gemini watermark from this image using remove_watermark.py
  • Check references/algorithm.md and explain how the alpha blending maps work

# Gemini Watermark Remover

## Dependencies

- Python 3.9+
- Pillow (install with `pip install -r requirements.txt`)

## Quick start

1) Install dependencies in the scripts folder:
   - `cd skills/gemini-watermark-remover/scripts && pip install -r requirements.txt`
2) Run the CLI:
   - `python remove_watermark.py <input-image> <output-image>`

## CLI usage

- Parameters:
  - `input-image`: path to the Gemini watermarked image
  - `output-image`: path for the cleaned image (format inferred from extension)

Example:

```
python remove_watermark.py ./in.png ./out.png
```

## What this skill provides

- `scripts/remove_watermark.py`: CLI entry point and core algorithm.
- `assets/bg_48.png`, `assets/bg_96.png`: Pre-captured watermark alpha maps.
- `references/algorithm.md`: Math, detection rules, and limits.

## Workflow

1) Use `remove_watermark.py` for one-off processing.
2) If you need to adjust detection rules or alpha logic, read `references/algorithm.md`.

## Notes

- The script uses Pillow for image IO and per-pixel edits.
- Output format is inferred from the output file extension by Pillow.
