report-to-google-slides — Codex skill: HTML reports to Slides
Turns an existing HTML analytics report into an editable Google Slides deck. Use it when the report is ready and the requested deliverable is a presentation.
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill report-to-google-slides -a codexWhat report-to-google-slides does
This skill takes a local HTML analytics report and runs report_to_google_slides.py against it. The helper creates an editable deck.pptx, a source inventory, a slide plan, preflight results, and chart images in assets/. Key findings, metrics, tables, recommendations, caveats, and source notes are arranged for slide-based reading.
The deck must pass the local checks before import: preflight_checks.json needs a passed status, followed by unzip -t on the PPTX. The file is then imported into Google Slides through mcp__codex_apps__google_drive._import_presentation with native_google_slides, and selected slide thumbnails can be inspected. An existing HTML report and an explicit conversion request are required. An MCP app report alone needs a separate HTML delivery from $build-report first.
What it helps with
- turn an HTML analytics report into a Google Slides deck
- create an editable
deck.pptxfrom report content - place report charts and tables into slide layouts
- run preflight checks before the Google Slides import
- retain caveats, recommendations, and source notes
Example prompts for the agent
- Convert the existing HTML analytics report at
report.htmlinto a Google Slides deck. - Use
/tmp/analytics-report.htmlto createdeck.pptx, then check it before import. - Take
dashboard.html, build the presentation, and inspect slide thumbnails for layout problems.
