replicas-agent — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Tells a background agent what the Replicas cloud workspace gives it: service previews, Slack, Linear, GitHub, Google Docs, Docker and the replicas CLI.
npx skills add replicas-group/skill --skill replicas-agent -a claude-codeWhat replicas-agent does
Inside a Replicas VM the agent needs to know its own toolbox, and this skill is the map. A locally running service can be published behind a public URL, so a person clicks through the UI or calls the API while the agent keeps going. Slack threads, Linear issues, pull requests through the pre-authenticated gh CLI, Google Docs and Sheets, Docker containers, screenshots and recordings each get a section of their own. Every section lives in a file under references/ (PREVIEWS.md, SLACK.md, LINEAR.md, GITHUB.md, GOOGLE.md, DOCKER.md, MEDIA.md, REPLICAS.md), and the agent is meant to read the matching file before touching anything.
Some of it depends on the machine. Docker is installed, yet the daemon does not come up on its own, so docker and docker compose fail until somebody starts it. Google files stay inside Replicas: the gateway owns what it creates, and documents made outside the integration remain out of reach. gh arrives already logged in, so no token setup is needed.
One more part covers the replicas CLI for automations, environment variables and files, repos and replicas.json. When the question is how Replicas itself works, the skill sends the agent to the docs first and saves the CLI for actual changes.
What it helps with
- hand a reviewer a public URL for a local service
- post a task summary into a Slack channel
- mark a Linear issue done with a comment
- open a pull request without setting up
ghauth - start the Docker daemon before running compose
Example prompts for the agent
- Start the dev server and give me a preview URL I can open
- Post the summary to
#devon Slack and attach the screenshot - Read the Linear issue from this link, set it to done and leave a note

Questions about replicas-agent
How do I install replicas-agent in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add replicas-group/skill --skill replicas-agent -a claude-code. The skill file then sits at ~/.claude/skills/replicas-agent/SKILL.md.
What does replicas-agent do?
It walks a background agent through the Replicas workspace: previews, Slack, Linear, GitHub, Google Workspace, Docker, media and the replicas CLI. Each topic has a reference file to read before acting.
Can it open a Google Doc I already have?
No. The integration creates and edits files owned by Replicas, and Google content created outside it cannot be reached.
