radon-mcp — Claude Code skill: debug React Native via Radon IDE
Teaches the agent to drive Radon IDE's MCP tools: screenshots, logs, component tree and network requests from a running app.
npx skills add software-mansion-labs/skills --skill radon-mcp -a claude-codeWhat radon-mcp does
This skill covers how to use Radon IDE's MCP tools while building and debugging React Native and Expo apps. It ships as a set of reference files under references/, one per tool. The agent reads the matching file before calling anything, which is why view_application_logs comes first when you don't yet know what broke.
The references cover screenshots, the mounted component tree, network logs and the details of a single request, app reload, and lookups in React Native and Expo docs. One file is about judging an npm library: what it does and whether it fits. Reload is split three ways — JS reload, process restart, full rebuild.
The skill only pays off inside a Radon IDE session with the app running. With no live app and no MCP tools connected there is nothing to call, so confirm the IDE is up and the tools respond before asking the agent to sort out a UI problem.
What it helps with
- trace a startup crash through build and runtime logs
- locate a context provider in the mounted component tree
- find which request returned the wrong response in network logs
- pick between JS reload and a full rebuild after an edit
- check what an npm library does before adding it
Example prompts for the agent
- Read the app logs and tell me why the build is failing
- Open the component tree and find where the theme provider is mounted
- Show the details of the /api/login request — what went out in the headers
