What quality-gate does

The skill walks a patent draft through a checklist of mandatory sections: title, technical field, background, summary, embodiments and claims. Miss one and it reports an error. Abstract and drawings description sit in a second tier — recommended, not required. A third tier holds informational notes, such as a suggestion about how many claims to write.

Under the hood it is a TypeScript class, QualityChecker, imported from ../skills/quality-gate.ts. Two calls do the work: check(content) hands back the list of issues, getScore(content) returns a number. Scoring starts at 100. An error costs 20 points, a warning 5, an informational note 2 — so one absent claims section outweighs several small remarks.

The import path is relative, which means the skill expects to run inside the oh-my-patent repository; pulled out on its own, the code will not resolve. Worth installing if your patent drafts live in Markdown and you want a machine pass before a human reads them.

What it helps with

  • catch mandatory sections missing from a patent draft
  • get a numeric readiness score for the text
  • separate hard errors from soft recommendations
  • check whether the claims section is long enough
  • run a disclosure check without leaving the editor

Example prompts for the agent

  • Run the quality-gate skill over patent-draft.md and list every error
  • Score the current document for disclosure completeness
  • Which required sections are still empty in my patent draft?
