positioning-workshop — Claude Code skill: setup and features
Runs a guided interview about target users, unmet needs, and competitors. Produces a Geoffrey Moore positioning statement in 60 to 90 minutes.
npx skills add deanpeters/Product-Manager-Skills --skill positioning-workshop -a claude-codeWhat positioning-workshop does
The skill acts as an interactive facilitator in your coding agent. It presents up to 5 tailored prompts, offering several selectable choices at each turn. This helps product managers examine user segments and core advantages through a Jobs-to-be-Done framework.
You can ground the session by supplying existing website drafts or competitor notes. Arriving without notes also works. The session takes between 60 and 90 minutes. It produces an evidence-backed positioning statement formatted for product requirement docs.
Running this workshop makes little sense for internal corporate tools with captive audiences, because sound positioning requires real market validation.
What it helps with
- clarify target customer segments and unmet needs
- articulate product differentiation against competitors
- align stakeholders on strategy before drafting a PRD
- construct an evidence-grounded Geoffrey Moore positioning statement
