What pedagogy-review does

The skill sends the lecture file to a pedagogy-reviewer agent. It checks 13 teaching patterns, then assesses the deck’s narrative, pace, notation, and assumed student knowledge. The returned report includes deck-level findings and key recommendations.

The review does not edit slides. The skill saves the report as quality_reports/[FILENAME_WITHOUT_EXT]_pedagogy_report.md, so it adds a report file to the project while leaving the lecture content unchanged. Its focus is teaching, not visual layout; the description points to /visual-audit for that kind of review.

Pass a .qmd or .tex filename. If you provide only a name, the skill looks in Quarto/ or Slides/; with no filename, it asks which lecture to review. For a combined slide review, the description recommends /slide-excellence.

What it helps with

  • check whether a lecture’s ideas unfold clearly
  • spot assumed knowledge students may lack
  • review worked examples and notation
  • assess pacing across a lecture deck
  • save teaching recommendations in a separate report

Example prompts for the agent

  • Review the teaching flow in Slides/lecture.tex before I teach it.
  • Check whether students can follow the material in Quarto/topic.qmd.
  • Assess the examples, notation, and narrative in this lecture deck.

# Pedagogical Review of Lecture Slides

Perform a comprehensive pedagogical review.

## Steps

1. **Identify the file** specified in `$ARGUMENTS`
   - If no argument, ask user which lecture to review
   - If just a name, look in `Quarto/` or `Slides/`

2. **Launch the pedagogy-reviewer agent** with the full file path
   - The agent checks 13 pedagogical patterns
   - Performs deck-level analysis (narrative arc, pacing, visual rhythm, notation)
   - Considers student perspective (prerequisites, objections)

3. **The agent returns its report** (the agent is read-only); this skill saves it to:
   `quality_reports/[FILENAME_WITHOUT_EXT]_pedagogy_report.md`

4. **Present summary to user:**
   - Patterns followed vs violated (out of 13)
   - Deck-level assessments
   - Critical recommendations (top 3-5)

## Important Notes

- This is a **read-only review** — no files are edited
- Focuses on **pedagogy** not visual layout (use `/visual-audit` for that)
- For a combined review, use `/slide-excellence` instead
