What pattern-detection does

Instead of generating an unsorted list of text matches, this skill forces the agent to classify issues into one detection mode. It selects between text-prefilter, structural-code-rule, log-event-pattern, or metric-anomaly. This isolates candidate irregularities across codebases, telemetry tables, and event records early.

The workflow relies on standard environment tools: Read, Grep, Glob, and Bash. The skill deliberately avoids root-cause diagnosis or applying patches. When the investigation shifts to deep log reconstruction, KPI reporting, or code remediation, it routes the task out to specialized skills like log-analysis or code-review.

Output stays organized around candidate clusters, confidence tiers, and false-positive risks, followed by a single validation step.

What it helps with

  • isolate repeated log error clusters across build versions
  • identify duplicate syntax shapes and risky API calls across the codebase
  • detect telemetry spikes and cohort shifts before deep incident triage
  • filter out false-positive noise from broad text scans

Example prompts for the agent

  • Find repeated error signatures in the auth worker logs and group them by cohort
  • Scan the repo for risky fallback patterns in API routes and estimate false-positive risks
  • Check the telemetry tables for recent latency outliers and propose a fast verification step

Questions about pattern-detection

How to install pattern-detection in Claude Code?

Run npx skills add akillness/jeo-skills --skill pattern-detection -a claude-code. The file will be placed in ~/.claude/skills/pattern-detection/SKILL.md.

What does the pattern-detection skill do?

It normalizes searches for recurring bugs, structural code smells, and telemetry outliers into detection packets. It groups findings with confidence levels instead of dumping raw hit lists.

Does pattern-detection fix bugs or resolve incidents?

No, it only pinpoints and classifies patterns. Remediation, root-cause reconstruction, and monitoring setup are delegated to external workflows.
