omni-models — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Queries available AI models across configured providers via OmniRoute. Helps filter models, resolve aliases, and inspect the catalog.
npx skills add cheaper-inference/OmniRoute --skill omni-models -a claude-codeWhat omni-models does
This skill interacts with the OmniRoute API to inspect and query artificial intelligence models across configured providers. Through endpoints like GET /api/v1/models and POST /api/v1/models/query, the agent filters models by context length, capability, or kind. It also retrieves provider variants, manages aliases, and accesses the OpenRouter catalog. Shortlist queries return results ordered by owner and identifier.
Every request requires a valid Bearer token or session cookie obtained from POST /api/auth/login. Without authentication, calls fail unless you set REQUIRE_API_KEY=false in your local development environment. The skill also exposes endpoints to test single models or run validation across all configured providers at once.
What it helps with
- list available models across configured providers
- create and update model aliases via API endpoints
- filter model shortlists by context window and capabilities
- test a single model or trigger checks across all configured providers
Example prompts for the agent
- List all available models in OmniRoute filtered by context length
- Create a new model alias using POST /api/models/alias
- Run connectivity tests for all models via POST /api/models/test-all

Questions about omni-models
How to install omni-models in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add cheaper-inference/OmniRoute --skill omni-models -a claude-code in your terminal.
What does omni-models do?
It connects to an OmniRoute instance to list available AI models, filter by capabilities, manage aliases, and run model tests.
How does authentication work for omni-models endpoints?
Requests require a Bearer token or session cookie from POST /api/auth/login. For local development without tokens, set REQUIRE_API_KEY=false.

## Overview
Query available AI models across all configured providers. List models, resolve model aliases, and browse the full model catalog including provider-specific variants.
## Authentication
All requests require a valid Bearer token or session cookie. Obtain a token via `POST /api/auth/login` or configure `REQUIRE_API_KEY=false` for local development.
## Endpoints
### GET /api/v1/models
List available models
Returns all models available across configured providers. The discovery filters (`capability`, `min_context`, `kind`, `q`) are opt-in: without them the response is unchanged. They narrow the caller's own (key-filtered) catalog and run before `limit`/`after` paging.
```bash
curl http://localhost:20128/api/v1/models \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $OMNIROUTE_TOKEN"
```
### POST /api/v1/models/query
Query a model shortlist
Filtered shortlist over the same catalog as `GET /v1/models` (same auth and per-key visibility). Results are ordered by `owned_by`, then `id`, and capped by `limit` (default 20, maximum 100).
```bash
curl -X POST http://localhost:20128/api/v1/models/query \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $OMNIROUTE_TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{}'
```
### GET /api/models
List models (management)
```bash
curl http://localhost:20128/api/models \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $OMNIROUTE_TOKEN"
```
### POST /api/models/alias
Create or update a model alias
```bash
curl -X POST http://localhost:20128/api/models/alias \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $OMNIROUTE_TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{}'
```
### GET /api/models/catalog
Get full model catalog
```bash
curl http://localhost:20128/api/models/catalog \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $OMNIROUTE_TOKEN"
```
### GET /api/models/openrouter-catalog
GET models › openrouter catalog
```bash
curl http://localhost:20128/api/models/openrouter-catalog \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $OMNIROUTE_TOKEN"
```
### POST /api/models/test
POST models › test
```bash
curl -X POST http://localhost:20128/api/models/test \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $OMNIROUTE_TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{}'
```
### POST /api/models/test-all
POST models › test all
```bash
curl -X POST http://localhost:20128/api/models/test-all \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $OMNIROUTE_TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{}'
```
### GET /api/v1/models/{model}
GET models › <model>
```bash
curl http://localhost:20128/api/v1/models/{model} \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $OMNIROUTE_TOKEN"
```
