What neon-postgres does

The skill outlines database connection strategies for Neon Postgres. When configuring Prisma, it specifies a dual-string structure: DATABASE_URL points to the PgBouncer pool for standard traffic, while DIRECT_URL connects directly to the instance. DDL operations require a direct connection.

For Drizzle ORM, the instructions guide driver selection based on the workload. The neon-http driver serves isolated single queries over HTTP. The WebSocket-based neon-serverless driver handles transactions and stateful sessions.

Neon supports up to 10,000 pooled client connections via PgBouncer. Note that 7 connections remain reserved specifically for the Neon superuser.
