medical-research — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Search PubMed papers and turn their findings into plain-language research summaries. Use it to explore studies on diseases, treatments, or clinical trials.
npx skills add gexijin/vibe --skill medical-research -a claude-codeWhat medical-research does
Give the skill a research topic in everyday language. It can ask for a narrower subject or clarification, then runs pubmed_search.py to retrieve PubMed papers and synthesize their findings, limitations, and possible clinical relevance. The default search returns 10 recent papers; you can change the result count through max_results in the script.
The summary explains medical terms for readers without a research background and identifies questions the papers leave open. It is saved as a Markdown file in the current working directory, named Research_Summary_{Topic}_{YYYY-MM-DD}.md. The search command uses python3. The resulting document is for education, not medical advice.
What it helps with
- find recent papers on a disease or treatment
- explain clinical study findings in plain language
- compare research themes and unresolved questions
- save a medical literature review as Markdown
Example prompts for the agent
- Review recent studies on migraine treatment and explain their findings in plain language.
- Summarize research on diabetes clinical trials and save the review as a Markdown file.
- Explore melanoma immunotherapy papers, including their findings and remaining research questions.
