What mcp-server does

This skill guides agents through building and launching the MCP server packaged with Claude-Code-Agent-Monitor. Setup steps involve npm run mcp:install, type checking, and compilation via npm run mcp:build. Running npm run setup executes the install and build steps together. Once ready, the server starts with ccam mcp stdio, ccam mcp http, or ccam mcp repl.

Read actions stay enabled by default. Write operations require MCP_DASHBOARD_ALLOW_MUTATIONS=true in your environment. Total data removal demands two explicit safeguards: setting MCP_DASHBOARD_ALLOW_DESTRUCTIVE=true and passing the exact string parameter confirmation_token = "CLEAR_ALL_DATA" directly to the tool. Missing that token blocks data wiping.

For authenticated dashboards, supply MCP_DASHBOARD_API_TOKEN. Network targets remain confined to loopback addresses and approved container hosts. Validation runs via npm run test:mcp, confirming that protocol and REPL modes register identical tool catalogs.

What it helps with

  • Compile the CCAM MCP server and check TypeScript types
  • Start the server using stdio, HTTP, or REPL transport
  • Configure environment variables for write permissions
  • Verify tool registration with test:mcp

Example prompts for the agent

  • Build CCAM mcp-server and start it with stdio transport
  • Show the environment variables required to enable write actions in mcp-server
  • Run test:mcp to check the server tool registration

Questions about mcp-server

How do I install mcp-server in Claude Code?

Run npx skills add hoangsonww/Claude-Code-Agent-Monitor --skill mcp-server -a claude-code. The file will be placed in ~/.claude/skills/mcp-server/SKILL.md.

What does the mcp-server skill do?

It provides instructions for building, running, and debugging CCAM's MCP server. It also outlines the required environment flags for writes and destructive operations.

What is required to clear all data via the server?

Set MCP_DASHBOARD_ALLOW_DESTRUCTIVE=true in your environment. You must also supply confirmation_token = "CLEAR_ALL_DATA" directly in the tool call.

# MCP Server

## Build

```bash
npm run mcp:install
npm run mcp:typecheck
npm run mcp:build
```

Normal `npm run setup` performs install and build automatically.

## Launch

```bash
ccam mcp stdio
ccam mcp http
ccam mcp repl
```

## Policy

- Reads are enabled by default.
- Writes require `MCP_DASHBOARD_ALLOW_MUTATIONS=true`.
- Full data clearing additionally requires
  `MCP_DASHBOARD_ALLOW_DESTRUCTIVE=true` and the exact tool argument
  `confirmation_token = "CLEAR_ALL_DATA"`. `CLEAR_ALL_DATA` is not an
  environment variable.
- Set `MCP_DASHBOARD_API_TOKEN` when the dashboard uses `DASHBOARD_TOKEN`.
- The target URL remains restricted to loopback and approved container-host
  names.

Validate with `npm run test:mcp`. Protocol and REPL transports must expose the
same catalog because both use the canonical domain registration path.
