internal-links — Claude Code skill: internal linking and orphan pages
Audits internal linking: finds orphan pages, suggests anchor text and link placements. Useful when an SEO review runs into link structure problems.
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill internal-links -a claude-codeWhat internal-links does
The skill covers internal linking for SEO: crawlability, link equity distribution and navigation. It starts from site structure — hub pages, pillar content, supporting pages — then flags orphan pages and pages that need more link equity.
Anchor text gets its own pass: descriptive wording instead of "click here", natural variation, target keyword where it fits. Placement is split by location: first paragraph, body, related block, navigation. The common issues table lists what usually goes wrong — pages with no incoming links, link stuffing, broken links and 404s.
When a root contextus.md exists, the skill reads it and loads only the modules relevant to the task. Without it, it works from project material or user-provided facts and asks for what is missing. For technical crawl checks and broken-link audits it points to the site-crawlability skill; for page hierarchy, to website-structure.
What it helps with
- find pages with no incoming internal links
- replace "click here" anchors with descriptive text
- spread link equity toward priority pages
- connect cluster articles to a hub page
- fix broken internal links and 404s
Example prompts for the agent
- audit the blog's internal linking and list orphan pages
- suggest anchor text for links pointing to the pricing page
- which pages get too few internal links
