golang-pro · davila7 — Claude Code skill for Go 1.21+: concurrency and profiling
Turns the agent into a Go specialist: 1.21+ features, goroutine and channel patterns, profiling, and a production-readiness pass on your service.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill development/golang-proWhat golang-pro does
The skill frames the agent as a Go developer who carries a project from pattern choice to profiler output. Its instruction runs in four steps: pin down the Go version, tooling and runtime limits; pick a concurrency and architecture approach; write the code together with tests and profiles; then tune latency, memory and reliability. You get measurements first, changes second.
The coverage is wide. Worker pools and fan-in/fan-out, cancellation through context, pprof and go tool trace, gRPC and GraphQL, database/sql and GORM, table-driven tests with testify and mock generation, Docker builds and Kubernetes deployment. Production concerns show up too: health checks, metrics, slog, OpenTelemetry.
The skill also names its own limits. It is not for another language or runtime, not for explaining basic Go syntax, and not for a repo where build configuration and tooling must stay untouched. Treat it as a working brief for the agent rather than a language reference. One npx command installs it, and the file lands at ~/.claude/skills/golang-pro/SKILL.md.
What it helps with
- design a worker pool that shuts down cleanly
- trace a memory leak with
pprof - split a service into gRPC-connected parts
- convert tests to table-driven with benchmarks
- audit a Go service before it ships
Example prompts for the agent
- Design a goroutine worker pool with graceful shutdown and add a benchmark
- Read this
pprofprofile and point out the bottleneck - Port this module to Go 1.21 with generics and
slog

Questions about golang-pro
How do I install golang-pro in Claude Code?
Run npx claude-code-templates@latest --skill development/golang-pro. Alternatively, npx skills add davila7/claude-code-templates --skill golang-pro -a claude-code.
What does golang-pro do?
It puts the agent in a Go-expert mode: choosing concurrency patterns, shaping service architecture, writing tests and profiles, checking production readiness.
When should I skip this skill?
When the codebase is not Go, when you only want basic syntax explained, or when tooling and build config cannot be changed.
