frontend-accessibility — Claude Code skill: how to install and use
This skill adds WCAG guidelines to your coding workflow. It instructs agents to write semantic HTML, configure ARIA attributes, and support keyboard navigation.
npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill frontend-accessibility -a claude-codeWhat frontend-accessibility does
The skill instructs the coding agent to apply WCAG accessibility criteria to web components. Instead of generic div structures, the agent selects semantic HTML tags like nav, main, or article. It also attaches appropriate ARIA roles so screen readers interpret the interface accurately.
Five standalone documents live in the references/ directory. They cover semantic HTML with ARIA, keyboard navigation routines, visual contrast, screen reader announcements, and testing procedures. Each guide enforces clean, well-documented code.
The rules explicitly prohibit skipping validation and ignoring error handling. You cannot hard-code configuration values either. Because of these constraints, the assistant must verify accessibility before marking a task complete.
What it helps with
- structure interfaces with semantic HTML and ARIA attributes
- implement keyboard navigation and focus management
- fix color contrast and visual accessibility issues
- configure live announcements for screen readers
- test frontend components against WCAG requirements
Example prompts for the agent
- Review this navigation bar for WCAG compliance and add ARIA attributes
- Enable keyboard navigation and focus trapping for the dialog modal
- Adjust color contrast for buttons and add hidden screen reader text
How to install frontend-accessibility
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill frontend-accessibility -a claude-code2Manually: put the files in place
~/.claude/skills/frontend-accessibility/SKILL.mdCopy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/frontend-accessibility/
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill frontend-accessibility -a codex2Manually: put the files in place
.agents/skills/frontend-accessibility/SKILL.mdFor all projects use ~/.agents/skills/
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill frontend-accessibility -a cursor2Manually: put the files in place
.cursor/skills/frontend-accessibility/SKILL.mdCursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/
1GitHub CLI
gh skill install aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts frontend-accessibility2Manually: put the files in place
.github/skills/frontend-accessibility/SKILL.md1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill frontend-accessibility -a gemini-cli2Platform CLI
gemini skills install https://github.com/aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --path skills/frontend-accessibilityManually: put the files in place
.devin/skills/frontend-accessibility/SKILL.mdThe legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works
Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill frontend-accessibility -a opencodeClaude.ai
Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Questions about frontend-accessibility
How do I install frontend-accessibility in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add aj-geddes/useful-ai-prompts --skill frontend-accessibility -a claude-code in your terminal. You can also place the skill file directly at ~/.claude/skills/frontend-accessibility/SKILL.md.
What does the frontend-accessibility skill do?
It provides instructions for building web interfaces that meet WCAG standards. The agent writes semantic markup, adds ARIA attributes, ensures keyboard navigation, and verifies visual contrast.
What reference guides are included with this skill?
The skill references dedicated files for semantic HTML and ARIA, keyboard navigation, color contrast, screen reader announcements, and accessibility testing.

## Overview
Build accessible web applications following WCAG guidelines with semantic HTML, ARIA attributes, keyboard navigation, and screen reader support for inclusive user experiences.
## When to Use
- Compliance with accessibility standards
- Inclusive design requirements
- Screen reader support
- Keyboard navigation
- Color contrast issues
## Quick Start
Minimal working example:
```html
<!-- Good semantic structure -->
<nav aria-label="Main navigation">
<ul>
<li><a href="/">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="/about">About</a></li>
<li><a href="/contact">Contact</a></li>
</ul>
</nav>
<main>
</header>
<p>Article content...</p>
</article>
<aside aria-label="Related articles">
<h2>Related Articles</h2>
<ul>
<li><a href="/article1">Article 1</a></li>
<li><a href="/article2">Article 2</a></li>
</ul>
</aside>
// ... (see reference guides for full implementation)
```

## Best Practices
### ✅ DO
- Follow established patterns and conventions
- Write clean, maintainable code
- Add appropriate documentation
- Test thoroughly before deploying
### ❌ DON'T
- Skip testing or validation
- Ignore error handling
- Hard-code configuration values
