fastapi-microservices-serverless — Claude Code skill for FastAPI
A skill that tells your coding agent how to build FastAPI microservices for serverless and cloud-native setups: stateless, Redis-backed, behind an API Gateway.
npx skills add Mindrally/skills --skill fastapi-microservices-serverless -a claude-codeWhat fastapi-microservices-serverless does
The skill kicks in when you ask the agent to write or rework a FastAPI service. It carries a set of principles: stateless services, session data in Redis or an external store, idempotent endpoints, config through environment variables, working health checks. The agent applies them while generating code instead of waiting for you to remind it.
Separate sections cover API Gateway integration (Kong, AWS API Gateway) — routing, rate limiting, gateway-level auth, API versioning, CORS. Others handle serverless patterns (cold starts, connection pooling, timeouts, horizontal scaling), security (OAuth2, OpenTelemetry, Pydantic input validation) and performance with async/await, caching and Prometheus/Grafana metrics.
There are no scripts or hooks inside. It is a set of instructions in SKILL.md that the agent reads. So it will not provision Redis or a gateway for you: if your project has neither, the advice on session storage and rate limits needs adapting to what you already run.
What it helps with
- design stateless endpoints with sessions kept in Redis
- set up routing and rate limiting on AWS API Gateway
- cut cold start time for a serverless FastAPI function
- add distributed tracing with OpenTelemetry
- move configuration into environment variables with health checks
Example prompts for the agent
- Generate a FastAPI service for AWS Lambda: sessions in Redis, config from environment variables, a health check.
- Rewrite these endpoints so they are idempotent and run behind an API Gateway with rate limiting.
- Add OAuth2 authentication and OpenTelemetry tracing to this project.

Questions about fastapi-microservices-serverless
How do I install fastapi-microservices-serverless in Claude?
Run npx skills add Mindrally/skills --skill fastapi-microservices-serverless -a claude-code. The skill lands in ~/.claude/skills/fastapi-microservices-serverless/SKILL.md.
What does fastapi-microservices-serverless do?
It gives the agent rules for FastAPI microservices in serverless and cloud-native environments: stateless design, API Gateway integration, security and performance work.
Does the skill require extra dependencies?
The skill itself is just instructions in SKILL.md. Redis, API Gateway, OpenTelemetry and Prometheus/Grafana appear as parts of the architecture it describes.
