fa-help — Claude Code skill: Font Awesome answers
Answers Font Awesome questions from the official documentation instead of model memory. Handy for setup, styling and upgrade work.
npx skills add FortAwesome/fontawesome-agent-tools --skill fa-help -a claude-codeWhat fa-help does
The skill takes one required argument: a question about Font Awesome — setup, styling, animation, APIs, upgrading, troubleshooting. The agent pulls the index at https://docs.fontawesome.com/llms.txt, picks the matching page and reads it with WebFetch. Answers come from that text, so version details and code samples reflect the docs rather than stale training data.
A single question costs at most three page fetches. The narrowest page goes first; a second one follows only when context is missing. Each answer ends with a link to the source, with the .md extension stripped from the URL. When a .font-awesome.md file sits in the project, examples get tailored to your integration method, version and license.
Raw <svg> markup is out of scope here. Ask for it and the skill points you to /add-icon, which pulls authoritative markup from the Font Awesome API. Questions about plain CSS, JavaScript or unrelated frameworks get a short answer with no doc fetch. If the documentation does not cover something, the skill says so instead of inventing a reply.
What it helps with
- check how to load Font Awesome through a Kit
- debug an icon that renders blank
- find the doc page for your version
- pick an animation approach for an icon
- get a code sample matching your setup
Example prompts for the agent
- How do I set up Font Awesome with a Kit in this project?
- Why does my icon render blank after the upgrade?
- How do I turn on the spin animation for an icon?

Questions about fa-help
How do I install fa-help in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add FortAwesome/fontawesome-agent-tools --skill fa-help -a claude-code. The skill file then lands at ~/.claude/skills/fa-help/SKILL.md.
What does fa-help do?
It takes your Font Awesome question, locates the relevant page in the official docs and answers from it with a source link. Code samples follow your project setup when .font-awesome.md is present.
Why won't the skill output SVG markup?
It deliberately avoids generating <svg> from memory. For authoritative icon markup it sends you to /add-icon, which fetches it from the Font Awesome API.
