deepstream-sop — Claude Code skill: SOP checks on video
Gives the agent the layout of NVIDIA's DeepStream SOP microservice, so it can build, debug and time a service that verifies the order of assembly steps.
npx skills add NVIDIA/skills --skill deepstream-sop -a claude-codeWhat deepstream-sop does
The skill documents a four-stage SOPVideoProcessor pipeline inside a GPU-accelerated FastAPI service. Stage one scores frame boundaries with a GEBD detector and cuts the stream into chunks. Stage two hands those chunks to vLLM running Cosmos Reason 1 or 2, which labels the action in each one. Stage four compares the labels against the expected sequence and reports steps that are missing or out of order.
The agent also gets the internals: Triton CAPI with the DDM model, nvds_custom_postprocess, SSE streaming, Kafka output as JSON or Protobuf. Input can be a video file, an RTSP stream or a Basler camera through Pylon, with camera emulation as an option. Everything runs in Docker next to a Kafka container, and requests hit port 8300 at /v1/chat/completions. Chunking is a per-request choice: ddm-net uses GEBD, while uniform makes fixed-length chunks and skips that stage entirely.
Both models are swappable. Point DDM_MODEL_PATH at another Triton model directory, or set VLLM_MODEL_PATH to a different model. FRAMES_PER_SIDE and SEQUENCE_BATCH control the DDM temporal window. Generic DeepStream work, object detection or tracking, NIM imports and video summarization fall outside its scope, so the agent won't pick it up for those.
What it helps with
- confirm an operator followed the assembly steps in order
- find steps that are missing or out of sequence in a recording
- label actions from an industrial camera feed with a VLM
- split a stream into chunks with event boundary detection
- measure latency per chunk instead of per request
Example prompts for the agent
- Run
line_04.mp4through/v1/chat/completionsand list any SOP steps that were skipped. - Bring the service up with Docker compose on a Basler camera and check the operation order on the live feed.
- Why do chunk boundaries differ with
uniform? Compare it againstddm-netand explain.

Questions about deepstream-sop
How do I install deepstream-sop in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add NVIDIA/skills --skill deepstream-sop -a claude-code. The skill lands at ~/.claude/skills/deepstream-sop/SKILL.md.
What does deepstream-sop do?
It briefs the agent on the DeepStream SOP microservice: the four pipeline stages, how to swap models, and how to read the sequence-check results.
Which models does the service use?
The default GEBD stage runs the DDM architecture through Triton, and chunk classification uses Cosmos Reason 1 7B via vLLM. Environment variables switch either one.
