cost — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Runs CodeBurn to display today's AI coding expenses using local session logs. Helpful when tracking daily token spend or finding which project cost the most.
npx skills add getagentseal/codeburn --skill cost -a claude-codeWhat cost does
The skill executes npx -y [email protected] today via Bash. CodeBurn scans session logs stored on the local machine by coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor. From those logs, it extracts token consumption and pricing figures for the current day.
The agent formats the output into at most five bullet points. This includes the total amount spent, the priciest models, the most expensive projects, and noticeable anomalies. It also suggests one specific step to reduce token usage, relying strictly on the extracted numbers.
Running this skill requires npx available in the local path, as it pulls CodeBurn on the fly to inspect the logs.
What it helps with
- check total spending across AI coding tools for the day
- identify the most expensive model or project
- catch unusual spikes in token consumption
- find an actionable recommendation to spend less on AI tools
Example prompts for the agent
- How much did my AI coding tools cost today?
- Show token spending by model and project for today
- Which project cost the most today?

Questions about cost
How do I install cost in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add getagentseal/codeburn --skill cost -a claude-code. The skill will be placed in ~/.claude/skills/cost/SKILL.md.
What does the cost skill do?
It runs CodeBurn via npx to parse local logs left by Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor. The agent then generates a short summary covering total cost, top models, and high-spend projects.
Where does the skill collect spending data?
CodeBurn inspects the local session logs that development tools like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor save directly on the machine.
