agents-md · callicrate — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Drafts, audits, and maintains repository-level AGENTS.md files. Keeps coding agents focused on live project conventions and verified commands.
npx skills add Callicrate/skills --skill agents-md -a claude-codeWhat agents-md does
This skill builds scoped behavioral rules for automated assistants directly from repository evidence. It collects active file paths, local execution commands, and common pitfalls, filtering out high-level doc material.
It offers several distinct modes. You can fix minor path drifts with patch, draft fresh guidance via create, split monorepo files across subdirectories, or run review to inspect rules without writing changes. Bundled helper scripts like analyze_project.py and validate_agentsmd.py handle stack inspection and command checks.
Without a local Python runtime, the built-in validation and analysis scripts will not run. The skill deliberately limits itself to AGENTS.md boundaries, avoiding generic README updates or architecture documents.
What it helps with
- draft a clean AGENTS.md baseline for an unconfigured repository
- audit existing agent instructions for broken links and invalid commands
- partition monorepo rules into directory-scoped instruction files
- patch specific instruction sections without modifying valid entries
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a minimal AGENTS.md file tailored to our repository structure
- Review the current AGENTS.md and highlight broken commands by risk level
- Update AGENTS.md after moving our test suites to a new directory
