daily-dev-ask — Claude Code skill: search daily.dev articles
Gives your agent a search over developer articles ranked by community upvotes. Answers cite real sources instead of guessing.
npx skills add dailydotdev/daily --skill daily-dev-ask -a claude-codeWhat daily-dev-ask does
The skill turns a question into a search across daily.dev. It runs a keyword query first, then a semantic one built from the full phrasing, and returns titles, links, summaries, tags, read time and upvote counts. The agent keeps searching until it has enough material, drops duplicates by id, and writes the answer with a source list at the end.
You need a token from daily.dev settings. A free account is enough; Plus raises the request limits. Tokens carry the dda_ prefix and may only go to api.daily.dev. Keep yours in the DAILY_DEV_TOKEN variable or in OS storage — Keychain on macOS, Credential Manager on Windows, Secret Service on Linux. Agents already wired to the MCP server at https://api.daily.dev/mcp skip the token entirely: the same calls run through the getSearchPosts and getPostsById tools.
Every claim in the answer has to trace back to a fetched article, and when nothing matches the topic the skill says so rather than inventing content. A 401 means the token expired and needs reissuing in settings; on 429 the agent waits and retries.
What it helps with
- find articles on a narrow technical topic without scrolling search results
- back an agent answer with links to write-ups by other developers
- filter weak material by upvotes and comment counts
- collect a source list for one question in a single pass
- check that the agent's advice is not made up
Example prompts for the agent
