What bmad-idea does

The skill picks one of five framing modes: problem, audience and value, concept shaping, game concept, or story packaging. It first normalises the incoming idea packet — domain, stage, audience, the biggest unknown. Then it returns exactly one artifact: problem brief, positioning brief, concept brief, game concept packet, or story / pitch packet.

Reference files ship with it: references/operating-modes.md for mode-selection heuristics, references/handoff-boundaries.md for routing to neighbouring skills, and references/concept-packet-template.md for output scaffolding. Tools allowed are Read, Write, Bash, Grep, Glob.

Mixing modes is off unless you ask for a two-pass workflow. Game ideas get pillars, player fantasy and a core loop before bmad-gds. If all you need is copy polishing with no framing decision, this is the wrong skill.

What it helps with

  • pin down which problem is actually worth solving
  • define audience and value before GTM work
  • collapse several half-ideas into one concept
  • sketch player fantasy, pillars and core loop
  • build a pitch packet for internal buy-in

Example prompts for the agent

  • I have a rough service idea — help me find the problem it solves
  • Shape a game concept: player fantasy, pillars, core loop
  • Put together a positioning brief for a new offer
