qodo-standards — Claude Code plugin: Qodo rules and standards

A Claude plugin that adds Qodo workflows: finding the rules in play and handling standards administration. Useful when your team keeps shared rules in Qodo and wants the agent to read them.

What qodo-standards does

qodo-standards comes from the claude-plugins-official marketplace and gives Claude two areas of work: discovering which Qodo rules apply to a project, and running admin tasks around standards. Both are optional, so the install alone changes nothing.

The plugin is a set of slash commands you call yourself. Until you type one, Claude behaves as before. You also need working access to your Qodo workspace; otherwise there is nothing to look up.

There is no rule catalogue bundled inside. The plugin reads whatever you already maintain in Qodo, so if standards live only in a repo or in the lead's head, installing it buys you little.

What it helps with

  • find the Qodo rules that apply to the current project
  • check active standards before touching code
  • handle admin work on a rule set
  • consult team standards without leaving the Claude session

Example prompts for the agent

  • Find the Qodo rules for this project and list them
  • Which Qodo standards apply in this repository?
  • Show the admin commands from qodo-standards

Questions about qodo-standards

How do I install qodo-standards in Claude Code?

Add the marketplace first: /plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-official. Then install the plugin: /plugin install qodo-standards@claude-plugins-official.

What does qodo-standards do?

It provides slash commands for looking up Qodo rules and for standards administration. The commands are optional, so nothing runs unless you call them.

Do I need a Qodo account?

The plugin looks up rules in your Qodo workspace, so without configured Qodo access there is nothing for it to find.

# Qodo skills

The canonical, provider-neutral source for Qodo’s local coding-agent skills.

> Qodo authors skills once; marketplaces update plugins; the CLI updates the runtime.

Every distributed skill contains its complete reviewed workflow. Coding agents do not fetch task
instructions from the Qodo CLI. The CLI provides authentication, managed tools, offline tool help,
runtime updates, passive skill notices, and verified maintenance through each recorded lifecycle
owner. Enterprise and historical CLI-managed installations can update automatically; marketplace
plugins remain owned by their host.

## Packages

| Package | Installed by default | Skills |
|---|---:|---|
| `qodo` | Yes | setup, codebase wisdom, local review, PR review resolver |
| `qodo-standards` | No | rules discovery and standards administration |

Qodo Standards stays a separate opt-in package. Updating the core package never installs it.

## Contribute a skill update

Edit `skills/<name>/SKILL.md` directly in GitHub, open a PR, wait for CI, and merge.
Contributors do not need Node or local commands. Automation collects merged changes into one
separate release PR with versions and generated marketplace packages. A release owner merges
that PR to start protected publication. See [Contributing](CONTRIBUTING.md) for the complete flow.
The [Actions guide](.github/workflows/README.md) explains the six workflows and when to use them.

For optional local validation, run `npm ci` and `npm test` in a full Git checkout. Tests prepare
and clean up an isolated release preview without changing contributor files or requiring generated
packages in the source branch. Prepared releases still receive strict artifact checks without
regeneration. See [local testing](CONTRIBUTING.md#test-locally) for base selection and direct checks.

## Install

Use the official Qodo listing in Claude Code, Codex, or Kiro. The marketplace owns installation
and updates; install the Qodo CLI separately and complete `qodo login` on first use.

Qodo's Antigravity bundles include the manifest metadata and square logo required for Marketplace
review. Until a curated listing is provider-visible, install the generated core plugin from a release
containing `antigravity-plugins/`; Qodo Standards remains a separate opt-in plugin. See
[Antigravity installation and acceptance](docs/antigravity.md) for Marketplace status, CLI versus
IDE setup, release availability, and the native smoke-test gate.

For a compatible local agent without an official Qodo listing, use skills.sh. One command can
target multiple agents:

```sh
npx skills add https://github.com/qodo-ai/qodo-skills \
  --skill qodo-setup \
  --skill qodo-codebase-wisdom \
  --skill qodo-review \
  --skill qodo-review-resolver \
  --agent cursor \
  --agent gemini-cli \
  --global \
  --yes
```

Install Qodo Standards only when requested:

```sh
npx skills add https://github.com/qodo-ai/qodo-skills \
  --skill qodo-get-rules \
  --skill qodo-manage-standards \
  --agent cursor \
  --global \
  --yes
```

The CLI detects supported local agents and prints the exact command without running it. If none is
detected, it reads skills.sh's current supported-agent catalog, excludes the marketplace-owned
Claude Code, Codex, and Kiro IDs, and offers the remaining agents as a multi-select. The bundled
catalog remains a read-only offline fallback:

```sh
qodo agents status --json
qodo agents catalog --json
qodo agents install --agent cursor,gemini-cli --json
qodo agents install --agent cursor --standards --json
```

`--standards` adds a separate Qodo Standards command; it never broadens the core package.

## Update

The coding-agent conversation is the primary experience. Agents run the CLI without a TTY,
resolve the complete operation and request only missing human approval in the conversation.
Users need not type commands, paths or an agent-ID list.

- Marketplace install: apply the Qodo update in that host, then start a new session.
- skills.sh install: inventory the installed scope with `npx skills list --json` and
  `npx skills list -g --json`, then run a scope-preserving skills.sh update/re-add command.
- Verified enterprise install: Qodo maintains recorded copies under the disclosed automatic policy.
  For requested maintenance, the agent checks `qodo agents update --help`, then uses
  `--enterprise --dry-run --json` and the exact returned `--apply-plan` command after resolving
  any still-needed approval. Direct terminal users can choose `qodo agents update --enterprise`.
- Qodo CLI: updates independently through `qodo update` and its background runtime updater.

Availability and completion notices on stderr are passive: continue the task without inventory
or an unsolicited update question. Automatic maintenance follows the existing disclosed policy,
source and opt-outs. Only requested manual maintenance requires resolving the full operation
before any additional consent; reuse approval that already covers it. New sessions load updated
files when convenient.

If the installed CLI lacks planning, the agent inspects `qodo update --help` and uses the supported
`qodo update --check --json` to establish the available CLI release and recorded source. Explain
the runtime prerequisite and request only missing authorization before one `qodo update --json`.
Skill-update consent alone does not authorize a CLI upgrade. Never override source or channel;
recheck version and planning support afterward. A failed/unsupported check, no available update,
failed upgrade or missing planning support ends this maintenance attempt with a conversational
blocker, without a terminal handoff or reinstall. CLI-only consent does not authorize the subsequent
skills operation; resolve its complete plan and reuse any approval covering that scope.

## Repository layout

```text
skills/                         canonical authored skills
packages/                       generated Claude packages
codex-packages/                 generated Codex packages
antigravity-plugins/            generated Antigravity plugins (core and optional Standards)
kiro-power*/                    generated Kiro Powers
distribution/catalog.json      package membership and discovery metadata
distribution/marketplaces.json provider release adapters
distribution/qodo-skills-index.json  compact stale-version index
releases/                       immutable release records
scripts/                        generation, validation, and release automation
```

Generated provider roots are byte-equivalent projections of the canonical skill with only
distribution and host provenance stamped into commands/frontmatter. `npm test` rejects drift,
thin loaders, missing workflows, package leakage, unsafe paths, and inconsistent versions.

## Maintainers

Start with [architecture](docs/architecture.md), [releasing](docs/releasing.md), and the
[cutover and release strategy](docs/cutover-and-release-strategy.md).

```sh
npm run release:prepare -- --summary "Improve review guidance" --skill qodo-review=patch
npm test
```

Do not edit generated provider packages by hand.
