What foundry-hosted-agent-copilotkit does

The plugin helps wire a CopilotKit frontend to a Microsoft Agent Framework agent hosted in Microsoft Foundry. It covers choosing the integration pattern, adding tools and human-in-the-loop approvals, and using Foundry features such as conversations, background runs, memory, and session files.

It includes the /foundry-hosted-agent-copilotkit skill and two MCP servers. microsoft-learn provides access to Microsoft documentation and code samples; foundry can inspect Foundry projects, model deployments, and agents, using Microsoft Entra ID sign-in. The skill also covers deployment with azd and debugging the AG-UI event stream.

You need an Azure subscription with a Microsoft Foundry project, Azure CLI, Azure Developer CLI with the azure.ai.agents extension, Node.js, and Python. Foundry hosted agents are a paid preview service. Install this plugin if your app uses that stack; it has little to offer projects outside Microsoft Foundry.

What it helps with

  • connect a CopilotKit frontend to a Microsoft Foundry agent
  • add tools and human-in-the-loop approvals
  • configure Foundry conversations and background runs
  • deploy an app with azd
  • debug the AG-UI event stream

Example prompts for the agent

  • Show me how to connect my CopilotKit React frontend to a Microsoft Foundry hosted agent over AG-UI.
  • Add a human approval step and explain which Foundry primitives to use.
  • Help me deploy this app with azd and debug its AG-UI event stream.
