What coinpaprika does

The plugin connects Claude Code to CoinPaprika through an MCP server. Its tools retrieve prices, OHLCV figures, coin and exchange details, trading pairs, and token prices by contract address. Use search or resolveId to find a coin; IDs follow a lowercase symbol-name pattern, such as btc-bitcoin.

The package contains 31 MCP tools, the @crypto-analyst subagent for market and risk analysis, and the crypto-market-search skill for finding coins. The free tier allows 20,000 calls per month without an API key, with a limit of 10 requests per second per IP. Historical tickers, historical OHLCV, and some other tools need a paid key; on the hosted server, those calls return an upgrade error instead of data without one. That matters if your workflow depends on historical figures.

What it helps with

  • find a coin and resolve its canonical ID
  • retrieve a coin’s price and trading volume
  • compare a coin’s markets across exchanges
  • inspect daily OHLCV data
  • look up a token price by contract address

Example prompts for the agent

  • Find this coin by name and give me its current price.
  • Compare the available markets for btc-bitcoin.
  • Use @crypto-analyst to assess this coin’s price trend and risks.
