claude-pulse — Claude Code plugin: usage limits under the prompt
Draws session consumption, weekly caps, a reset countdown and your plan right in the Claude status line. Handy when you want a quick read without leaving the chat.

/plugin install claude-pulse@claude-communityWhat claude-pulse does
The plugin keeps a live line below the prompt: how full the window is, time left until it resets, the plan, context and session spend. It works from what Claude already sends to the status line, so no API key and no polling.
Under the hood there is a single Python script with no dependencies, and it wants Python 3.8+. Colours, bar size and style, text layout and widgets are picked in a setup wizard with previews; settings.json is backed up before the first write. The plugin cannot register a status line on its own, so /usage-pulse:setup writes it into settings.json with safe defaults. Restart Claude afterwards.
One SessionStart hook comes along: when a plugin update moves the install into a new version folder, it points settings.json at the current one. Git and manual installs are left alone.
What it helps with
- check how much of the session window is left
- track weekly spend and the reset countdown
- see session cost in your own currency
- change theme and bar style without editing JSON
- count subagents spawned against the cap

Questions about claude-pulse
How do I install claude-pulse in Claude Code?
Add the marketplace first: /plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community. Then install the plugin: /plugin install claude-pulse@claude-community. Run /usage-pulse:setup and restart Claude.
What does claude-pulse do?
It adds a status line to Claude showing session window fill, weekly limits, reset time, plan and cost. You style it in the wizard instead of editing config files.
Does it need an API key?
No. The line is built from data Claude passes to the status line itself, so nothing is polled externally. Python 3.8+ and Claude 2.1.80 or newer are required.
