claude-5h-window-spread — Claude Code plugin: spread your 5h cap
A skill that reads your work hours and schedules quiet pings, so usage lands across several 5-hour Claude Pro/Max windows instead of one.
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-community
/plugin install claude-5h-window-spread@claude-communityWhat claude-5h-window-spread does
The plugin looks at your usual day — when you sit down, when you break for lunch, when you stop — and picks times for four silent pings. Each ping opens a fresh 5-hour window, so a long work block no longer drains a single window and dies mid-debug.
Scheduling stays local: launchd on macOS, cron on Linux, Task Scheduler on Windows. No cloud, no API keys. Run /window-spread setup to install the pings, /window-spread status to see what is already there and when it fires next. Running setup again swaps the old pings for new ones.
On Linux the install rewrites your whole crontab, so it reads the file first and keeps every entry that is not a window-spread one. If that read fails — no permission on the cron spool, an unmounted home directory, no crontab binary on PATH — nothing gets written at all. The --force-replace-crontab flag wipes the crontab with no backup, so reach for it only when you are sure the file is empty.
What it helps with
- stop burning through the cap before the workday ends
- work out ping times that fit your own schedule
- see which pings are installed and when they fire
- retune the schedule when your hours change
- set up pings locally without cloud or API keys
Example prompts for the agent
- Set up pings around my day: I start at 8:30, lunch from 12:20 to 14:00, done by 18:00.
- Show me which pings are installed and when they fire next.
- Retune the schedule — I now work weekdays only, until 17:00.
