supabase-backup-manager — Claude Code command: Supabase backups
A Claude slash command that runs Supabase database backups: takes snapshots, validates restores and manages the schedule.
npx claude-code-templates@latest --command database/supabase-backup-managerWhat supabase-backup-manager does
The command handles Supabase backups in one call. It creates database snapshots, exports schema and data, checks backup integrity and tests the restore process. Scheduling is part of the job too: automated runs, failure notifications, backup windows.
The steps run from strategy to disaster recovery. It designs retention policies, sets up incremental copies, compresses and archives old backups to keep storage in check. For monitoring it scans the project for *.yml and *.json files that mention backup or cron, which tells you where your existing automation already sits.
Everything goes through an MCP integration with Supabase, so that has to be configured first. Tool access is limited to Read, Write, Edit and Bash. The argument picks the operation: --backup, --restore, --schedule, --validate or --cleanup. With no Supabase project connected the command can neither snapshot nor verify a restore, so check that connection before you rely on it.
What it helps with
- snapshot a Supabase database before a migration
- verify that a backup actually restores
- set up a recurring backup schedule
- prune old backups and free up storage
- document the recovery procedure for an outage
Example prompts for the agent
- /supabase-backup-manager --backup
- /supabase-backup-manager --validate
- /supabase-backup-manager --schedule
