gallery-researcher — Claude Code subagent: find visual references
A subagent that searches the MeiGen gallery for references and pulls reusable prompt fragments out of them. Useful before you have picked a direction.
/plugin marketplace add wshobson/agents
/plugin install meigen-ai-design@claude-code-workflowsWhat gallery-researcher does
gallery-researcher handles visual research. It queries the MeiGen gallery, a collection of 1300+ curated AI-generated images, and hands back a shortlist with thumbnails, category and like counts. Each pick comes with a one-line reason and the prompt phrases worth copying.
Two tools do the work. search_gallery takes keywords, filters by category (Illustration & 3D, App, Food & Drink, Girl, JSON, Other, Photography, Product & Brand) and sorts by rank, likes, views or date. get_inspiration returns the full prompt plus every image URL for one entry. The flow: search broadly on your terms, shortlist candidates, drill into the 3–5 most promising, then summarise the common threads. Sparse first results just mean another search phrase.
The agent runs on haiku, so do not expect long analysis. Both tools belong to the MeiGen MCP server — without it the subagent has nothing to call, since its frontmatter lists only mcp__meigen__search_gallery and mcp__meigen__get_inspiration.
What it helps with
- find references on a topic before generating anything
- assemble a mood board from existing work
- lift usable prompt wording out of a finished image
- compare styles within one category
- see what already exists for a search term
Example prompts for the agent
- Find references for a retro-futurist poster series
- Build a mood board around cosmetics product shots
- Show me the approaches people take to food illustration and list the prompt bits worth reusing
