cicd-automation-cloud-architect — Claude Code subagent for cloud
A cloud architect subagent for AWS, Azure, GCP and OCI: designs infrastructure, estimates cost and writes IaC.
/plugin marketplace add wshobson/agents
/plugin install cicd-automation@claude-code-workflowsWhat cicd-automation-cloud-architect does
This subagent acts as a cloud architect. It reads your requirements for scale, cost and security, picks services that fit the workload, and returns a design that handles failure. Behind it sits working knowledge of the AWS, Azure, GCP and OCI service catalogs, FinOps practice, and patterns like serverless, microservices and event-driven systems. The configured model is opus.
A large part of the job is Infrastructure as Code. The agent writes Terraform and OpenTofu modules, native CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep, Infrastructure Manager and Resource Manager templates, plus CDK and Pulumi. It also covers GitOps with ArgoCD, Flux and GitHub Actions, policy as code through OPA and Cloud Guard, and infrastructure tests with Terratest and Checkov. Cost estimates with optimisation options come attached.
One thing to plan for: without access to a provider console or API, the agent only works from what you describe in the prompt. Give it regions, budgets and compliance constraints up front and you will spend less time answering follow-ups. The source description is cut off, so the full list of example interactions is not reproduced here.
What it helps with
- design a multi-region setup that survives an AZ failure
- compare the monthly cost of one workload on AWS and GCP
- move hand-built infrastructure into Terraform modules
- bake zero-trust access and encryption in from the start
- plan a cloud migration without vendor lock-in
Example prompts for the agent
- Design a multi-region web app with autoscaling on AWS and include a cost estimate
- Rewrite our stack as Terraform modules and show where the money leaks
- Compare this service on AWS and GCP, then tell me what to cover with reserved instances

Questions about cicd-automation-cloud-architect
How do I install cicd-automation-cloud-architect in Claude?
Add the marketplace with /plugin marketplace add wshobson/agents, then install the plugin with /plugin install cicd-automation@claude-code-workflows. The subagent file lands at .claude/agents/cloud-architect.md.
What does cicd-automation-cloud-architect do?
It designs cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, GCP and OCI, writes IaC with Terraform, OpenTofu, CDK and Pulumi, estimates cost, and folds in security and disaster recovery.
Does it need cloud console access?
Nothing in the description requires it. The agent answers from what you put in the prompt, so state regions, budgets and compliance needs in the request itself.
