Brazil self-exclusion registrations top 1.2 million eight months after national platform launch

Brazil's centralized betting self-exclusion platform recorded more than 1.2 million voluntary exclusions in eight months, running from December 2025 to September 2026. The Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) at the Ministry of Finance says that is 3% of the 40 million active CPF registrations held in Sigap, the betting management system.

The total sits well above other national programmes. Britain's GAMSTOP has 614,738 registrations over eight years. Sweden's Spelpaus passed 134,000 in seven years, Germany's OASIS 336,000 in four. Brazil's fixed-odds market has been regulated for a year and a half; law 14.790/2023 took effect in January 2025.

Methodology differs

Comparing absolute totals says little about the size of the problem. Brazil's 3% is measured against active Sigap players. Britain, Sweden and the Netherlands count the self-excluded against the whole adult population, which is a different base. In Germany one person can exclude themselves more than once, and that inflates the count.

Coverage varies too. Spain's RGIAJ works only with state-licensed online betting, while the Brazilian registry takes in all national licensees. For operators and affiliates, 1.2 million is a signal of how much audience leaves the funnel. The open question is how many of those CPFs come back once the block expires.
