What web-search does

The skill exposes five inference.sh apps to the agent: tavily/search-assistant, tavily/extract, exa/search, exa/answer and exa/extract. Search returns answers with source links, extraction pulls clean text and images from a list of URLs, and exa/answer replies to a single factual question without a link list.

Everything runs through the belt CLI, so belt login comes first. Without it the belt app run calls fail. Inside the skill the agent shells out to those apps, and you can pipe the output into a file and hand it to a model such as openrouter/claude-sonnet-45 for analysis.

The skill installs into Claude, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and OpenCode. Gemini CLI also has a second route — installing straight from the repository at tools/llm/web-search.

What it helps with

  • find recent material on a topic with source links
  • pull clean text out of several URLs at once
  • verify a claim and back it with a source
  • collect pages into one file for a RAG pipeline
  • get a short factual answer to a specific question

Example prompts for the agent

  • Use web-search to find the latest material on agents and save it to a file
  • Extract the text from these two articles and summarise it
  • Ask exa/answer for the population of Tokyo and show the answer
