shopify-liquid-themes — Claude Code skill for Shopify Liquid themes
Tells the agent how Shopify theme files are organised and how Liquid works, so it can write sections, blocks and snippets that fit the existing structure.
npx skills add benjaminsehl/liquid-skills --skill shopify-liquid-themes -a claude-codeWhat shopify-liquid-themes does
The skill maps out a Shopify theme: sections/, blocks/, snippets/, layout/, templates/, config/, locales/ and assets/. A short table settles the question of what to make — a section, a block or a snippet — before the agent starts writing files. The Liquid reference covers delimiters, operators and the usual traps, plus compact lists of filters, tags and objects.
Schema gets its own part: sample JSON for a section and a block, and a table that picks the right setting type. Need a toggle? That is checkbox. A slider needs min, max and default. Getting this wrong is why a theme editor rejects a section, so the table matters more than it looks.
Longer reference files sit in the skill folder for filters and objects. Install needs Node and one npx skills add line. For someone maintaining a theme in git and asking the agent to add sections, this replaces guessing at Liquid syntax from memory.
What it helps with
- write a section with valid JSON in
{% schema %} - decide between a section, a block and a snippet
- look up the right Liquid filter or tag
- wire section settings to translation keys
- keep theme folders in the expected layout
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a
herosection with a heading, an image and a button, schema in{% schema %} - Add a slide block to the section: text, link and background image
- Rewrite this snippet with
{% render %}and pass its parameters
