ralph-loop-workflow — Claude Code skill: autonomous coding

This skill runs an agent through a coding loop that turns a broad goal into tasks, changes code, and checks the result. Use it for work that needs repeated agent-led iterations.

What ralph-loop-workflow does

Start the workflow with /ralph. The agent keeps its own task list, chooses a priority, makes a change, writes tests, and checks the build and app in a browser. Once checks pass, it updates user-facing docs and commits the work before moving on.

Before the first task, the skill checks whether relevant CLIs are installed, linked to the project, and authenticated. A failed check stops the run and prompts the agent to give you fix commands. It also stops when you have not provided a broad outcome to pursue. Prepare the agent configuration, code-health checks, and tests first. Browser checks use http://localhost:3000, and the development server should stay up with bun run dev.

The workflow depends on project context, tools, and checks: these can include AGENTS.md, MCP servers, and installed skills. Tests run against an isolated database branch. A missing CLI or login blocks the loop before it starts, so the preflight has to pass first.

What it helps with

  • turn a broad development goal into agent-managed tasks
  • check CLI setup and authentication before a run
  • test and verify changes as the agent works
  • update docs and commit completed tasks

Example prompts for the agent

  • /ralph — add account creation and sign-in to the app, then verify the flow.
  • /ralph — build project search and check it with tests.
  • /ralph — prepare the app for deployment and test it in the browser.
