What proposal-writer does

This skill organizes sales documents into structured markdown templates. It provides specific layouts for full service proposals, simple quotes, and partnership agreements. Each format includes sections for client requirements, scoped deliverables, tiered pricing options, and payment milestones.

For document export, the metadata connects to the office-mcp server using create_docx, fill_docx_template, and create_pptx tools. Supported languages explicitly listed in metadata are English and Chinese. Tested models include claude-sonnet-4, claude-opus-4, gpt-4, and gpt-4o.

Without an active office-mcp server in your environment, the agent outputs plain markdown instead of compiled Office files.

What it helps with

  • draft full service proposals with tiered pricing options
  • generate quick project quotes with delivery timelines
  • structure partnership agreements with shared responsibilities
  • prepare structured responses for client RFPs

Example prompts for the agent

  • Create a proposal for website redesign services with two pricing options
  • Draft a quick quote for IT maintenance valid for 30 days
  • Write a partnership proposal for joint marketing

## Proposal Writing Best Practices

### Executive Summary
- Write it last (after full proposal)
- Make it stand alone
- Lead with client benefits, not your features
- Keep to 1 page max

### Understanding Section
- Show you've done your homework
- Reference specific client challenges
- Use their language and terminology
- Acknowledge their goals

### Solution Section
- Focus on outcomes, not activities
- Explain WHY, not just WHAT
- Use visuals where helpful
- Make it easy to understand

### Pricing Section
- Offer options when possible
- Anchor with higher option first
- Be transparent about what's included
- Justify the investment

### Call to Action
- Make next steps crystal clear
- Remove friction (easy to say yes)
- Create urgency appropriately
- Provide contact for questions

## Output Format

```markdown
# [Proposal Title]
[Structured proposal following appropriate template]
## Summary
- Total investment: $X,XXX
- Timeline: X weeks
- Key deliverables: [List]
```

## Customization Options

Tell me your preferences:
- **Length:** Brief (2-3 pages), standard (5-10 pages), comprehensive
- **Style:** Conservative/corporate, modern/creative, technical
- **Focus:** Price-competitive, value-focused, relationship-building
- **Format:** Document, presentation slides, email-friendly

## Limitations

- Cannot research the specific client (provide context)
- Pricing must be provided by you
- Legal terms should be reviewed by counsel
- Industry-specific regulations may apply
- Cannot guarantee deal closure

## Examples

### Example: SaaS Implementation Proposal

**Input:** "Create a proposal for implementing our HR software for a 500-person company. 3-month timeline, $75,000 budget, includes training and support."
