remember · parcadei — Claude Code skill: store learnings for later recall
The skill saves a learning, pattern or decision into a memory system so you can find it again. Useful when you don't want to re-solve the same problem.
npx skills add parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 --skill remember -a claude-codeWhat remember does
remember writes an entry into the memory system: type, content, tags. Leave the type out and it gets inferred from the text — words about an error give ERROR_FIX, about a design choice ARCHITECTURAL_DECISION, about a convention CODEBASE_PATTERN, about something that failed FAILED_APPROACH. The fallback is WORKING_SOLUTION. You get back a confirmation with the entry ID.
Under the hood it runs scripts/core/store_learning.py through uv, with PYTHONPATH=. and the working directory taken from $CLAUDE_OPC_DIR. Entries land in PostgreSQL with BGE embeddings. So the command fails without a running database and a configured environment — check that $CLAUDE_OPC_DIR points at the right directory first.
Pass --type and auto-detection is skipped. Manual entries are stored with medium confidence and a session id prefixed manual- with the date and time.
What it helps with
- record a fix that worked so you don't hunt for it again
- capture an architectural decision along with the reasoning
- save a pattern you spotted in the codebase
- mark an approach that didn't work
- write down the resolution for a specific error
Example prompts for the agent
- /remember TypeScript hooks require npm install before they work
- /remember --type ARCHITECTURAL_DECISION Session affinity uses terminal PID
- /remember --type FAILED_APPROACH Don't use subshell for store_learning command
How to install remember
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 --skill remember -a claude-code2Manually: put the files in place
~/.claude/skills/remember/SKILL.mdCopy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/remember/
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 --skill remember -a codex2Manually: put the files in place
.agents/skills/remember/SKILL.mdFor all projects use ~/.agents/skills/
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 --skill remember -a cursor2Manually: put the files in place
.cursor/skills/remember/SKILL.mdCursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

Questions about remember
How do I install remember in Claude?
Run npx skills add parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3 --skill remember -a claude-code. The skill file lands at ~/.claude/skills/remember/SKILL.md.
What does the remember skill do?
It stores a learning, pattern or decision in the memory system for future recall. The entry type is inferred from the content unless you pass it explicitly.
What does remember need to work?
Entries go into PostgreSQL with BGE embeddings, and the script runs via uv from $CLAUDE_OPC_DIR. Without that environment the command won't execute.

--- name: remember description: Store a learning, pattern, or decision in the memory system for future recall user-invocable: false --- # Remember - Store Learning in Memory Store a learning, pattern, or decision in the memory system for future recall. ## Usage ``` /remember <what you learned> ``` Or with explicit type: ``` /remember --type WORKING_SOLUTION <what you learned> ``` ## Examples ``` /remember TypeScript hooks require npm install before they work /remember --type ARCHITECTURAL_DECISION Session affinity uses terminal PID /remember --type FAILED_APPROACH Don't use subshell for store_learning command ``` ## What It Does 1. Stores the learning in PostgreSQL with BGE embeddings 2. Auto-detects learning type if not specified 3. Extracts tags from content 4. Returns confirmation with ID ## Learning Types | Type | Use For | |------|---------| | `WORKING_SOLUTION` | Fixes, solutions that worked (default) | | `ARCHITECTURAL_DECISION` | Design choices, system structure | | `CODEBASE_PATTERN` | Patterns discovered in code | | `FAILED_APPROACH` | What didn't work | | `ERROR_FIX` | Specific error resolutions | ## Execution When this skill is invoked, run: ```bash cd $CLAUDE_OPC_DIR && PYTHONPATH=. uv run python scripts/core/store_learning.py \ --session-id "manual-$(date +%Y%m%d-%H%M)" \ --type <TYPE or WORKING_SOLUTION> \ --content "<ARGS>" \ --context "manual entry via /remember" \ --confidence medium ``` ## Auto-Type Detection If no `--type` specified, infer from content: - Contains "error", "fix", "bug" → ERROR_FIX - Contains "decided", "chose", "architecture" → ARCHITECTURAL_DECISION - Contains "pattern", "always", "convention" → CODEBASE_PATTERN - Contains "failed", "didn't work", "don't" → FAILED_APPROACH - Default → WORKING_SOLUTION
