What orchestrate does

After /orchestrate <goal> is entered, a dispatcher starts a root planner in the cloud and returns its URL. The planner writes plan.json; scripts/cli.ts routes the work and collects structured handoffs from workers and subplanners. Workers operate separately: each handles one task in its own repository clone.

A personal CURSOR_API_KEY is required, along with reading the cursor-sdk skill for its guidance on authentication and agent spawning. SLACK_BOT_TOKEN is optional; when configured, a Slack channel can receive task updates. Without the Cursor key, the workflow cannot start, and the skill does not invoke itself.

What it helps with

  • split a large goal into separate tasks
  • dispatch independent work to parallel cloud agents
  • collect worker handoffs for the planner
  • check a result against acceptance criteria

Example prompts for the agent

  • Break the API migration into tasks, run parallel agents, and collect their reports: /orchestrate Move the API to the new schema.
  • Divide the project update by module and return the combined handoffs: /orchestrate Update the project modules and verify the changes.
