nitro — Claude Code skill for server routes, cache, deploys
A skill with Nitro v3 references: file-based routing, route rules, caching, storage and deployment presets. Use it when the agent edits nitro.config or writes H3 handlers.
npx skills add antfu/skills --skill nitro -a claude-codeWhat nitro does
The skill is generated from Nitro v3 docs (beta, 3.0.260903) and covers the server toolkit that powers Nuxt but also works standalone. References include routing, configuration, storage, cache, assets and rendering, with separate files for tasks, WebSocket, database and OpenAPI.
The big shift from v2: the package is renamed nitropack to nitro, H3 moves to v2 with web-standard Request/Response, and auto-imports are gone — everything is imported explicitly. Directory scanning is opt-in via serverDir, useStorage becomes useKV from nitro/kv, and cache swr defaults to false.
When the agent is unsure which API version applies, the skill ships an advanced-migration.md reference — read that first. The skill does not install Nitro itself; the library and its dependencies belong in the project.
What it helps with
- map file-based routes and dynamic H3 v2 params
- set route rules for cache, headers, redirects, CORS
- wire up unstorage KV mounts
- add cron tasks and WebSocket handlers
- build for Node, Bun, Deno, Cloudflare or Vercel
Example prompts for the agent
- Add a handler for /api/users with a dynamic id param
- Set a route rule so /api is cached for an hour
- Migrate this code from useStorage to useKV from nitro/kv
How to install nitro
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add antfu/skills --skill nitro -a claude-code2Manually: put the files in place
~/.claude/skills/nitro/SKILL.mdCopy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/nitro/
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add antfu/skills --skill nitro -a codex2Manually: put the files in place
.agents/skills/nitro/SKILL.mdFor all projects use ~/.agents/skills/
1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add antfu/skills --skill nitro -a cursor2Manually: put the files in place
.cursor/skills/nitro/SKILL.mdCursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/
1GitHub CLI
gh skill install antfu/skills nitro2Manually: put the files in place
.github/skills/nitro/SKILL.md1Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add antfu/skills --skill nitro -a gemini-cli2Platform CLI
gemini skills install https://github.com/antfu/skills --path skills/nitroManually: put the files in place
.devin/skills/nitro/SKILL.mdThe legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works
Skills CLI (Vercel)
npx skills add antfu/skills --skill nitro -a opencodeClaude.ai
Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Questions about nitro
How do I install nitro in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add antfu/skills --skill nitro -a claude-code. The skill lands in ~/.claude/skills/nitro/SKILL.md.
What does the nitro skill do?
It gives the agent Nitro v3 references: file-based routing, route rules, caching on top of unstorage, runtime config via NITRO_*, tasks, WebSocket, the SQL layer and deployment presets.
How is Nitro v3 different from v2?
The package is renamed from nitropack to nitro, H3 is v2 with web-standard Request/Response. Auto-imports are removed, directory scanning is opt-in via serverDir, useStorage is replaced by useKV, and cache swr defaults to false.

--- name: nitro description: Nitro is the framework-agnostic server toolkit (powering Nuxt) for building and deploying web servers anywhere. Use when working with nitro.config, server routes/event handlers, route rules, caching, storage, tasks, websockets, or deploying to Node/Bun/Deno/Cloudflare/Vercel. metadata: author: Anthony Fu version: "2026.9.25" source: Generated from https://github.com/nitrojs/nitro, scripts located at https://github.com/antfu/skills --- > The skill is based on Nitro v3 (beta, 3.0.260903), generated at 2026-09-25. Nitro is a framework-agnostic, deployment-agnostic server toolkit powered by [H3](https://h3.dev) v2, [unstorage](https://unstorage.unjs.io), and Vite/Rolldown/Rollup. It powers Nuxt and works standalone. From one codebase it builds optimized output for Node.js, Bun, Deno, Cloudflare, Vercel, Netlify, and more. Key capabilities: - **Filesystem routing** with H3 v2 event handlers, dynamic params, and method suffixes. - **Route rules** for declarative caching, headers, redirects, proxying, and CORS. - **Caching** layer (cached handlers/functions, SWR) on top of the **unstorage** KV layer. - **Runtime config** overridable via `NITRO_*` env vars. - **Tasks** (on-demand + scheduled/cron), **WebSockets**/SSE, a SQL **database** layer, and **OpenAPI** auto-docs. - **Plugins & lifecycle hooks**, custom **renderer**/**server entry**, and portable **deployment presets**. > **Key v3 changes** (vs. `nitropack` v2): the package is renamed `nitropack` → `nitro` with H3 v2 (web-standard `Request`/`Response`); **auto-imports are removed** (import everything explicitly); directory scanning is **opt-in** via `serverDir`; `useStorage` → `useKV` (`nitro/kv`) and the `storage` config option → `kv`; cache `swr` now defaults to `false`.
