monitor-stream — Claude Code skill: live swarm event stream
Streams ruflo swarm status changes into your session through the Monitor tool, so you see agent counts shift instead of polling the CLI by hand.
npx skills add ruvnet/ruflo --skill monitor-stream -a claude-codeWhat monitor-stream does
The skill wires the Monitor tool to a small script and lets it feed the session. Your agent runs node "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/swarm-watch.mjs" and gets an NDJSON line whenever the swarm changes: swarm.snapshot, swarm.changed or swarm.error. Every stdout line fires a notification, so nothing sits waiting in a loop.
ruflo's CLI has no swarm watch, so the script polls swarm status --format json on its own and prints a line only on a change. Add --interval 5 for faster updates; the floor is 2 s. What arrives is status and agent-count movement. Individual task and memory events stay out of the stream, so don't expect them there.
A one-off check takes a different path: mcp__plugin_ruflo-core_ruflo__swarm_status and mcp__plugin_ruflo-core_ruflo__swarm_health return a single snapshot. The script lives inside the ruflo plugin, which is why the path is built from ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT} and the start command is node.
What it helps with
- watch whether the agent count in a swarm is climbing
- catch the moment a swarm's status changes
- get a notification per change instead of re-running status
- pull a one-shot health snapshot before starting work
- tell a
swarm.errorapart from a normal change
Example prompts for the agent
- Run `node "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/swarm-watch.mjs"` through Monitor and show me swarm changes as they land.
- Start the stream with `--interval 5`, I want to watch the agent count move.
- Check `swarm_health` once, then switch to the event stream.

Questions about monitor-stream
How do I install monitor-stream in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add ruvnet/ruflo --skill monitor-stream -a claude-code. The skill lands at ~/.claude/skills/monitor-stream/SKILL.md.
What does monitor-stream do?
It streams ruflo swarm state changes into your session through the Monitor tool, one NDJSON line per change, covering status and agent count.
Can I see individual task or memory events in the stream?
No. The script polls swarm status --format json, which returns a swarm summary only. For a point-in-time view use mcp__plugin_ruflo-core_ruflo__swarm_status or mcp__plugin_ruflo-core_ruflo__swarm_health.

Use the Monitor tool to stream swarm events in real time instead of polling:
Run via Monitor: `node "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/swarm-watch.mjs"` (add `--interval 5` for faster updates; minimum 2 s)
There is no `swarm watch` in the ruflo CLI, so this script polls `swarm status --format json` and prints one NDJSON line when it changes (`swarm.snapshot`, `swarm.changed`, `swarm.error`). It shows status and agent-count changes, not individual task or memory events. Each stdout line triggers a notification.
For one-shot status, use MCP: `mcp__plugin_ruflo-core_ruflo__swarm_status` or `mcp__plugin_ruflo-core_ruflo__swarm_health`.
Prefer Monitor over polling `swarm status` in a loop. See ADR-091 for rationale.
