make-game — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Guides game development across design, engine scaffolding, feature work, and architecture documentation.
npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill make-game -a claude-codeWhat make-game does
The skill enforces a strict rule: no code before a written plan. If docs/gameplan.md does not exist, the agent asks clarifying questions about the gameplay loop, win conditions, and target session length. It only touches code after finalizing the plan, docs/tech.md, and ADR-0001.
For project setup, it uses official CLI scaffolders instead of assembling configs by hand. It triggers standard commands for Phaser or Vite setups for Three.js. For Unity, Unreal, or Godot, it relies on editor CLIs or asks the user to initialize the project via the native editor.
Entering an existing repository triggers a session-start check that reads docs/STATE.md and current milestones. The skill deliberately excludes general web apps and ten-minute viral games, which skip structured planning in favor of instant deployment.
What it helps with
- plan gameplay loops and core mechanics before touching code
- scaffold projects using official Phaser, Three.js, or Unity commands
- record architectural decisions and milestones inside docs
- recover project state and active development phase at session start
Example prompts for the agent
- Help me design and plan a 2D roguelike deckbuilder
- I want to make a 3D racing game with Three.js, let's scaffold the project
- Add an inventory system to the game and update architectural decisions

Questions about make-game
How to install make-game in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill make-game -a claude-code.
What does make-game do?
It orchestrates game creation by requiring an approved docs/gameplan.md before coding begins. It guides engine scaffolding, feature development, and architecture logging.
Can make-game be used for quick one-shot games?
No, the skill intentionally avoids one-shot viral games that lack milestones. Those belong in the /viral-game workflow, while make-game enforces architecture documentation and structured planning.
