let-fate-decide — Claude Code skill: what it does and how to install
This skill uses a Tarot spread to suggest a direction when a request leaves several reasonable options open. It suits casual handoffs where the agent is asked to choose.
npx skills add trailofbits/skills --skill let-fate-decide -a claude-codeWhat let-fate-decide does
When a task is vague or several approaches could work, the skill runs scripts/draw_cards.py and produces a 12-house Zodiac spread. Each house gets one Major Arcana card and two Minor Arcana cards. The agent reads their meanings, then relates the draw to the task.
Run the script with uv run --no-config; add --content to put house and card text in the JSON output. The skill also includes a guide for interpreting the spread and context lenses for technical work. Cards can appear reversed. For security or correctness work, the draw can suggest where to look next, but it cannot stand in for tests or engineering evidence.
The skill is not meant to choose when the user has given precise requirements or the task has one clear answer. Running it requires uv, and the script uses the secrets module. Do not use the cards alone to approve critical work.
What it helps with
- pick a direction for an ambiguous request
- break a tie between valid approaches
- find another angle for a technical check
- turn a random draw into suggested next steps
Example prompts for the agent
- Use a card spread to choose which of these two approaches to start with.
- Pick a direction at random for investigating this task.
- Suggest a security-check angle, then support it with engineering evidence.

Questions about let-fate-decide
How do I install let-fate-decide in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add trailofbits/skills --skill let-fate-decide -a claude-code. The skill file is at ~/.claude/skills/let-fate-decide/SKILL.md.
