job-search — Claude Code skill: find jobs that match your resume
This skill runs a daily browser job search, scores each listing against your resume and preferences, and keeps only the ones worth your time.
npx skills add proficientlyjobs/proficiently-claude-skills --skill job-search -a claude-codeWhat job-search does
The skill loads your profile from DATA_DIR/resume/*, your preferences.md, and the job history so it can skip postings you have already seen. It then drives hiring.cafe through the Claude in Chrome MCP tools, entering search terms and applying filters for posting date and location. Terms come from the command argument, or from your target roles when you leave it out.
Listings are pulled with javascript_tool and a targeted selector rather than get_page_text. That matters: the full page text on a job board will blow out your context window. Each listing gets scored against your resume and preferences, everything is appended to job-history.md, and high-fit matches get followed through to the employer's careers page, where the posting is saved to DATA_DIR/jobs/[company-slug]-[date]/posting.md.
Both a resume and a preferences file are required, so the prerequisite check stops early without them. You also need to allow reads and writes under ~/.proficiently/**, crontab, and mcp__claude-in-chrome__* in ~/.claude/settings.json. If a linkedin-contacts.csv is present, the skill cross-references company names against it and tells you who you already know at each match. It won't rewrite your resume or fill in applications — separate commands handle that.
What it helps with
- find fresh postings matching a specific skill set
- skip duplicates from earlier searches
- score how well a posting fits your resume
- collect direct employer career-page links
- check whether you know anyone at the company
Example prompts for the agent
