What investigation-open does

A skill for attorneys who run internal investigations. When a complaint or allegation comes in, it stands up a privileged workspace for the matter.

On launch it runs intake, generates the sources checklist and creates the persistent investigation log. If a matter with the same slug already exists, the skill warns before overwriting.

Before any substantive work it loads ~/.claude/plugins/config/claude-for-legal/employment-legal/CLAUDE.md and the internal-investigation reference skill, running its Open mode. Intake templates, privilege-formation requirements, the sources checklist and log templates live in that reference skill.

Author is anthropics, repository anthropics/claude-for-legal, license Apache-2.0.

What it helps with

  • A complaint or allegation arrives and there is no investigation workspace yet.
  • You need a persistent matter log, not scattered notes.
  • You need a sources checklist so nothing is missed at the start.

Example prompts for the agent

  • /employment-legal:investigation-open — open a matter; the skill asks for details.
  • /employment-legal:investigation-open with a brief description of the allegation on the same line.
