incidentio-cli — Claude Code skill: drive the incident.io API
A skill that lets your agent call the incidentio CLI and reach incident.io: incidents, on-call schedules, alerts, status pages. Useful when the data lives in incident.io.
npx skills add paymog/incidentio-cli --skill incidentio-cli -a claude-codeWhat incidentio-cli does
The skill documents the incidentio binary and the commands it exposes. Public endpoints run on a Bearer token and are generated from incident.io's official OpenAPI specs, so every documented endpoint is reachable. The base URL is https://api.incident.io. Each command is two tokens, <resource> <verb>, and the output is JSON you can pipe into jq or print unformatted with --raw.
You need an API key before anything runs. Create it under **Settings → API keys** (app.incident.io/settings/api-keys); the scopes are locked in at creation, so pick them carefully. Store it with incidentio auth set <api-key> — the file lands in ~/.config/incidentio/creds.json with mode 600. For a one-off job or CI, export INCIDENT_API_KEY instead. Resolution goes flag first, then environment variable, then stored credential.
A 401 or 403 means the key is bad, revoked, or missing a scope the endpoint wants — calling incidents create with a read-only key is the usual case. Check the scopes in the dashboard. Beyond the public API, the skill also covers internal dashboard endpoints, marked 🍪 and driven by cookies: some generated from captured HARs, some added by hand. Anything not codified goes through raw.
What it helps with
- pull incidents for a date range
- open an incident from a script
- check who is on call right now
- build a status page and list its subscribers
- change a dashboard setting through the API
Example prompts for the agent
- List open incidents from the last week using
incidentio - Who is on call for schedule
<schedule-id>? - Create an incident named "Checkout is down" with severity
<sev-id>

How do I install incidentio-cli in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add paymog/incidentio-cli --skill incidentio-cli -a claude-code. The skill ends up at ~/.claude/skills/incidentio-cli/SKILL.md.
What does incidentio-cli do?
It gives an agent access to the incident.io API through the incidentio CLI: incidents, follow-ups, alerts and alert routes, on-call schedules, the catalog, status pages, teams and settings. Commands come from OpenAPI specs, with internal dashboard endpoints and a raw escape hatch on top.
What do I need before using the skill?
A Bearer API key for incident.io. Create one under **Settings → API keys** with the scopes you need, then save it with incidentio auth set <api-key> or pass it via INCIDENT_API_KEY.
