icon-retrieval — Claude Code skill: find icons, fetch SVG with curl

Searches for icons by keyword through an HTTP API, then pulls the SVG markup of the ones you pick with curl. Handy when a page or diagram needs a few icons.

What icon-retrieval does

The skill gives the agent one route to icon artwork. It calls https://www.weavefox.cn/api/v1/infographic/icon with a GET request and a required text keyword. A second parameter, topK, controls how many matches come back: anywhere from 1 to 20. Leave it out and you get 5.

The service replies with JSON containing SVG URLs. The agent then fetches the content of whichever links it wants, again through curl with a timeout, and drops the markup straight into a page, diagram or infographic. Two requests, no local icon library.

Special characters in text have to be URL-encoded. On network trouble the skill suggests retrying with a smaller topK or checking that the endpoint is reachable. Access to weavefox.cn is a hard requirement, so in an offline environment the skill does nothing at all.

What it helps with

  • find an icon by meaning and get its SVG without downloading files by hand
  • drop a ready icon into a diagram or infographic
  • grab several icons for one keyword in a single call
  • add icons to a page without pulling in an icon font

Example prompts for the agent

  • Find an icon for "data analysis" with icon-retrieval and show me the SVG
  • Grab 3 icons for security and place them in the diagram layout
  • Fetch the SVG for the document icon and inline it into the HTML page

# Icon Search

Use the icon HTTP API directly with `curl`.

## API

### Search Endpoint

- **Method**: `GET`
- **URL**: `https://www.weavefox.cn/api/v1/infographic/icon`
- **Query params**:
  - `text` (required): search keyword, e.g. `"data analysis"`
  - `topK` (optional): number of icons to fetch (1-20), default `5`

Example:

```bash
curl -sS -L --max-time 20 "https://www.weavefox.cn/api/v1/infographic/icon?text=document&topK=5"
```

Typical response:

```json
{
  "success": true,
  "data": [
    "https://example.com/icon1.svg",
    "https://example.com/icon2.svg"
  ]
}
```

### Retrieve SVG Content

```bash
curl -sS -L --max-time 20 "https://example.com/icon1.svg"
```

## Workflow

1. Determine the icon concept keyword (for example: `security`, `document`, `data`).
2. Search icon URLs using the API endpoint.
3. Use `curl` to fetch the SVG content of selected URLs.
4. Use SVG directly in pages, diagrams, or infographic materials.

## Notes

- Use URL encoding for special characters in `text`.
- `topK` range is 1–20; if omitted, the service returns up to 5 results.
- For network issues, retry with a smaller `topK` or verify endpoint accessibility.
